URBAN TRAIL
SHOES
Born in
the italian alps
to climb
the city
When we started to study the UYN® URBAN TRAIL project, our goal was to create a new concept of footwear: comfortable and technical, sustainable and high-performance, ideal for everyday urban adventures and trail explorations.
These apparently contrasting characteristics had to be reconciled in a revolutionary way. To do so, we took our inspiration from the nature that surrounds us: the Italian Alps with their wonderful ibexes, the mushrooms of the forests, the Merino sheep pastures, the behaviour of horses.
The result is an innovative shoe, developed in the Asola (Mantua) laboratories with new generation biomaterials, tested in the Italian mountains, ready to deliver a new walking experience.
URBAN TRAIL
COLLECTION
The best climbers in nature have inspired our sole
Incredible climbers. Even the smallest ledge is enough for the ibexes to find a secure footing. The secret is their hoof: the unique combination of a harder outer edge and a softer inner pad provides excellent grip on any terrain.
HOOF-HEEL &
HOOF-GRIP
Like the ibex hoof, the outer edge of the Urban Trail sole is made of harder rubber to ensure optimal traction and a secure hold. The inner part is made of softer rubber. This offers optimal grip on wet surfaces and at the same time it absorbs impact forces.
TWO-PIECE FOREFOOT
Based on the hoof shape of even-toed ungulates, the front part of the sole is divided into two. This gives the foot more flexibility for optimal power transmission.
CLOSED HOOF-HEEL
The greatest pressure forces occur at the heel. For this reason, the heel part of the sole is based on a horse‘s hoof. This distributes the pressure evenly around the heel bone.
MIDSOLE
MEGA CUSHONING
The low-density EVA Mega-Cushioning midsole ensures a cushioned landing and a more explosive take-off. This makes walking smooth and secure on all types of terrain.
360° HIGH-TECH KNIT
Adaptive fit, anti-friction comfort
Ultra-elastic and breathable, the upper is made of a one-piece fabric with a blend of Merino wool and recycled polyamide. The construction naturally adapts to the anatomy of the foot without wrinkling or chafing for maximum comfort.
Protective shield
Stable, protected.
The durable material of the Protective Shield protects the sensitive knitted area of the shoe. Together with the Power Rail, the shoe can be laced up perfectly.
Merino wool
The power of nature
When you slip on a UYN shoe, your foot is surrounded by Merino wool. This extraordinary fibre warms when it is cold and cools when it is hot, absorbs moisture, resists odor and provides a pleasantly soft feel. All this in a completely natural way!
Recycled materials
Minimal impact, maximal style
A new sensitivity to climate change is emerging among consumers, who are increasingly aware of the carbon footprint and environmental impact of the products they choose to buy. UYN wants to be at the forefront of sustainability and drive change. This has led us to develop materials from recycled plastics with a view to reducing environmental waste and giving waste a new life.
Certified Recycled Plastic
Protective Shield is made from GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certified recycled PET.
Carbon reduction
Up to 70% lower carbon footprint than virgin fossil-based PET
Leather of mushrooms
The vegan alternative to leather
Mycelium is a biomaterial made from mushrooms that are not suitable for human consumption. Instead of being discarded as waste, the mushrooms are used to create an environmentally friendly material that can be processed like leather in terms of thickness, density and feeling. Thanks to the addition of cellulose fibres from renewable and responsibly managed forests, Mycelium is extraordinarily strong, supple and soft.
High performance
Thanks to its features, Mycelium is a perfect biomaterial for providing protection, strength and support.
Low environmental impact
Mushrooms are an amazing fast renewable natural organism. Due to its rapid growth, its feedstock availability is almost unlimited. No additional chemicals are used in their cultivation and water consumption is minimal. The entire Mycelium creation process has a much lower environmental impact than the creation of animal-based leather and petroleum-based materials.
