The structure of a sock, completely without seams, and the performance of a shoe engineered to release energy. UYN launches NAKED, the first shoe of the Italian brand made for road cycling and the first in the world derived entirely from the sock with a revolutionary production technique.
NAKED is the result of a long process of refinement conducted in Italy by technicians at AREAS (Academy for Research and Engineering in Apparel and Sport), UYN’s advanced research and development centre. Through rigorous laboratory and road tests, the perfect balance between comfort and performance has been achieved, taking advantage of UYN’s invaluable know-how in the field of functional apparel and technical fabrics.
A SECOND SKIN FOR A BAREFOOT FEELING
The upper is made of a single piece of double-layered 3D knitted fabric, designed to wrap around the foot like a second skin, perfectly fitting to its anatomy. No tongue and no stitching. This means no creases, overlapping material or abrasions. The Free Flow micro-perforated structure guarantees very high breathability and allows air to circulate freely around the foot.
For the outer layer, UYN has developed the Hi-Force yarn: each filament features a coating that makes it highly resistant to abrasion, perfect for prolonged use. The inside of the shoe is made using the exclusive Natex yarn, 100% organically derived. Natex is 25% lighter than traditional nylon and dries 50% faster, helping to further reduce the weight of the shoe and keep the foot cool and dry in all conditions. The anatomical footbed is also made from an all-natural fibre – hemp, which promotes ventilation and dispersion of moisture.
ELASTICITY AND STABILITY: OPPOSITES RECONCILED
Behind the clean and essential design lies a sophisticated structure that allows UYN NAKED shoes to be both elastic and stable at the same time to offer the cyclist the highest comfort/performance ratio.
The EXOFRAME system on the outside of the upper has a shape designed to wrap around the medial and rear part of the foot so to guarantee maximum stability when pedalling, both when pushing and pulling. EXOFRAME is made by recycling the super strong and flexible interlayer used to create laminated glass for the automotive industry. To increase lateral stability and prevent foot roll inside the shoe, a semi-rigid and resilient STABILITY FRAME is strategically placed between the two layers of fabric.
FOOT AND SHOE BECOME ONE
The complex multi-frame system of the upper is regulated by UYN Micro Tune Closing System, which consists of a single rotor for fast tightening and Click-To-Fit technology, which uses a single button to adjust the closure with millimetre precision and complete opening. The result is an improved efficiency of the Micro Tune system with a decisive weight saving compared to systems with two rotors.
Once worn, the UYN NAKED shoe becomes one with the foot. There are no separate parts and no pressure points, the power is transmitted without dispersion from the leg to the pedal, ensuring optimum performance.
UYN NAKED CARBON AND UYN NAKED FULL-CARBON: TWO MODELS FOR EVERY NEED
UYN NAKED shoes are available in Carbon and Full-Carbon models depending on the type of sole. The UYN NAKED Carbon shoe has a sole made of nylon and injected carbon fibre, which is light, stiff and ventilated: the perfect balance between pedalling efficiency and comfort. The total weight is 270 grams (size 42). Thanks to its characteristics, this model is ideal for many types of use, from semi-professional riding to more relaxing weekend rides.
The UYN NAKED Full-Carbon model has a sole made up of seven layers of carbon, which is exceptionally stiff and ultra light (the total weight of the shoe in the reference size is 230 grams), suitable for competitive use: from Granfondo to professional races. Two air intakes guarantee optimal ventilation inside the shoe, creating the perfect micro-climate for great performance.
